What is the Chainsaw and how does it work?
Q1. What fuel does it use and how long does a full tank last?
The Chainsaw uses Low Grade Fuel. A full tank holds 50 cans = 25 minutes of non-stop operation. You refuel and unload it the same way as firearms - press Reload to top up to 50 cans (or whatever you have), and use the unload action to take fuel back out.
Q2. Does the Chainsaw lose durability when I just hold the trigger?
No - but it still burns fuel. Fuel drains the whole time the action button is held, including idle. Durability is only spent when the saw is actually cutting a valid target (tree, wooden structure, or flesh). Holding the trigger in the air wastes fuel but not durability.
Q3. What can I cut, and what doesn't work?
Valid targets: trees, animal/player corpses, and any wooden buildings (walls, doors, fences). Invalid targets: stone, metal, and HQM structures - the saw will spark on them but deal no damage.
Q4. Why don't I have to aim at the red X marks on trees?
Every valid hit on a tree automatically counts as a marker hit (auto-crit). You just hold the action button on the trunk - no micro-aiming required. This makes wood farming faster and more consistent than with the axe.
Q5. How much durability does it have, how do I repair it, and what happens at 0?
Max durability is 100. Repair cost: 10 HQM, 20 Metal Fragments, 1 Metal Sheet. At 0 durability the engine stalls and the saw stops working - but you can still unload remaining fuel from the tank.
