Why is my base decaying?
In Oxide, all buildings decay over time if they are not maintained. This is an intended game mechanic and applies to all players.
How to prevent decay: To stop your base from decaying, you must place a Tool Cupboard and keep enough resources inside it. The required type and amount of resources depend on the materials your base is built from (wood, stone, etc.). If the Cupboard is missing or runs out of resources, the building will start to decay and can eventually be destroyed.
Checking your maintenance status: Inside the Tool Cupboard menu, you can see exactly which resources are required and how long the current supply will protect your base (Maintenance Time). Always check this interface to ensure the time covers your entire offline period.
PvE vs PvP Servers: This maintenance mechanic works exactly the same on both PvE and PvP servers. However, on PvE servers, other players cannot raid or destroy your base. If your base is getting damaged or disappears on a PvE server, the most common reason is insufficient resources in the Cupboard.
If your base is already damaged, you can:
- Use a Hammer to manually repair structures.
- Refill the Cupboard immediately to stop further decay.
